Janice Ann Martin, 79, of St. Clairsville, Ohio and Marco Island, Florida died Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio. She was born March 12, 1938 in Benwood, WV, a daughter of the late Joseph DiCarlo and Amber Richard DiCarlo. Jan was a cherished friend to many and loved shopping, bingo, and spending time with her beloved Cavalier, Carlo – along with family and friends. She was a retired clerk for former St. Clairsville Mayor, Edgar White, a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Clairsville, St. Francis Society, Marco Island Red Hat “Rubies”, and built a large, successful AARP chapter in Belmont County, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Singhaus; brothers, Herman and Talmadge “Bud” DiCarlo and sister, Naomi (Richard) Trischler of Wheeling, WV. Surviving are her husband, Thomas F. Martin; two daughters, Jana Highwart of Columbus, OH, and Tammi (Joseph) Shaffer of Keller, TX; stepchildren, Teresa (Richard) Hobe of Dayton, OH, Thomas K. Martin of Moundsville, WV, Carol (Thomas) Rosen of Brownstown, MI, Ann (Jeff) Balgo of Palm Bay, FL, and Mary (Bob) Martin Olsen of Proctor, WV; a nephew, Joseph (Maurine) Kennen of Massilon, OH; 13 step grandchildren; 4 step great grandchild; and good friend, Melanie Domyan of Columbus, OH. In the hope that Jan could help others, she made an anatomical gift of her body, for the purpose of medical research and education, to the Ohio State University - Division of Anatomy. Memorial contributions may be made to The James Cancer Center at OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.
