Janet Louise (Huml) Wilcock, 71 of Columbus, Ohio passed away on March 31, 2018. She was born May 22, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio to Louis and Olga (Kubik) Huml. Memorial services will be Friday, April 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Union Cemetery, 3349 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, Ohio 43202. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Big Cat Rescue at 12802 Easy Street Tampa, FL 33625.
Janet received her nursing degree from Lakewood School of Practical Nursing and proudly served in the Army Nursing Corps for three years before starting her family. She moved to Wooster, Ohio in 1986. There she was active as a Girl Scout leader and 4-H advisor while continuing her nursing career at Austin Nursing Home. In 2003, Janet moved to the Columbus area to be closer to her grandson. She continued caring for others as a home health nurse, retiring in 2014. Janet was a loving person to all people and also had a soft spot for animals which she lovingly referred to as “fuzzies”. Upon retirement she became an avid reader. She enjoyed going to the library, listening to lectures, shopping, and most importantly spending time with family.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Janet will be sorely missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her daughters Kristen Wilcock of Upper Arlington, Ohio and Marion Wilcock of Grove City, Ohio and her grandson, Magnus Wilcock of Upper Arlington, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her mother, Olga (Kubik) Huml, her father, Louis Huml, and her sister, JoAnn (Huml) MacRaild.
