Janet (Bechtol) Kevan, born April 11, 1931, died peacefully January 29, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family. She was born at home, in Wellsville, Ohio where she lived until moving to Upper Arlington, Ohio in 1974. Her last years were spent in her daughter’s (Kim) home, where she was spoiled beyond imagination.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Kevan, her only son, Rick Kevan, parents, Albert and Margery (Redmond) Bechtol, two brothers, George and Baby Boy Bechtol and a great grandson , Christopher Anderson-Hood.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Ken Storey and Janet Kevan-Mathis(Shawn). She is also survived by grandchildren, all of whom loved her so big, Jason, Jessica (Eugene), Annie (Joe), Kevan, Stefanie (Chris), Chad, Megan (Patrick), Sara (Doug), Kyle (Ashley) and her buddy, Matt. She was Gigi to her great grandchildren and she called them her seedlings; Peyton, Max, Jack, Addison, Henry, Bryce, Jenna, Mason, Drew, Kate and Emma.
Janet was a proud member of the Wellsville High School class of 1949, a life long member of the Wellsville First Christian Church where she served as deaconess and she attended First Congregational Church in Columbus, Ohio where she became good friends with Rev. Dr. Tim Ahrens.
Janet was an Ohio Bell telephone operator, a teacher’s aide and held an insurance license for years. She was a lifelong card player with bridge being her favorite, a consummate hostess as she loved teas and luncheons. Janet was the epitome of class and it was rumored she could give Emily Post a run for her money. She was a marble champion, held the record for fastest typist in all the school, played the trumpet and even marched at half time for a Cleveland Browns game. She was a marvel at playing jack’s and at age 87 was still on the floor teaching the seedlings to play. She was stoic, loving, kind, ornery, green-thumbed and well loved by all who knew her.
Janet was a woman of deep faith and is certain to be serving her famous roast beef and gravy in Heaven where she collected her starry crown.
