James (Jim) Teeple, 91, of Columbus joyfully went home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 20, 2017. Jim was born in Akron, Ohio on August 19, 1926 to the late John Perry and Ethel (North) Teeple.
A 1944 graduate of Buchtel High School in Akron, Jim went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. After his military service, Jim attended The Ohio State University and graduated in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science degree in food, agricultural and environmental science. Early in his career, Jim enjoyed teaching fifth grade at Heyl Avenue School. He went on to work as a commercial real estate appraiser. In later years, Jim served at OSU in both the Water Resources and Chemical Engineering departments. After his retirement, Jim enjoyed spending time completing remodeling projects for clients in Upper Arlington and Worthington.
Jim was married to his lovely wife, Nancy, for 52 years. Life-long hobbies he enjoyed included photography, creating home movies, boating, and spending time with his family. Jim especially enjoyed going to Lakeside, Ohio to spend time in the charming cottage he built with the help of his son, David, and other good friends. Jim and Nancy attended Upper Arlington Lutheran Church and were actively involved in a mid-week Bible study for over twenty years. Jim had a wonderful sense of humor and never met a stranger. He would strike up a conversation with anyone anywhere he went. Jim was a devoted fan of the OSU Buckeyes, and enjoyed attending football and basketball games every season.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, son-in-law, Dan Krzyzanowski, and sister Jo (Bill) Franklin. He is survived by his son David Teeple, daughters Kathy Teeple and Karen Krzyzanowski, niece Linda (Bob) Smith, grandsons Christian Teeple and Justin (Serena) Leach, and great-grandchildren Peyton and Greyson.
