James (Jamie) Kyle Purdie, 62, died Sunday, August 28, 2016. Born on Feb 20, 1954 in Mansfield, Ohio, he moved with his family to Westerville at the age of 3. Jamie was a graduate of Westerville High School. As a teenager, he began working in the family business, Purdie Metals, Inc., where he worked his way up, eventually becoming CEO before his retirement. Jamie was a member of the Baltimore 475 Masonic Lodge, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Columbus, the Shriners' Temple in Columbus, and a 40 year Master Mason. He was an avid hunter and golfer and in later years a NASCAR fan.
Jamie is survived by wife, Mary, daughters Heather (Justin) Lane of Sunbury and Lisa N. Purdie of Columbus, sister Sharon Rae Purdie of Westerville, and granddaughters Brea Taylor Lane and Lila Ann Lane. He was predeceased by his parents, James Taylor and Phyllis Nadine (Schaaf) Purdie, daughter Sharon Elizabeth Purdie and nephew Taylor C. Bates.
The family would like to acknowledge the help, support and love of Fady Abuayyash.
Jamie will be sadly missed. Private services will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
