James R. Palmer, 86, passed away Thursday, September 29, at his nursing home in Delaware, OH. Jim's family was by his side.
He is survived by Joann (Johnston) Palmer, daughters Stephanie (Palmer) Coffee (Jason Coffee) and Charlene (Palmer) Winslow, grandsons Noah and Samuel Clark, sister Betty (Palmer) Markel, many nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
Jim was a lifelong Ohio resident; living in Delaware, Franklin and Logan counties. He and his family spent many happy times boating around the family place at Indian Lake, Ohio. Jim was always tinkering and building things around the Lake, or helping a neighbor in any way he was able.
Jim worked on the railroad for several years, and for county and state organizations.
He served in the US Army. He was a volunteer firefighter at Concord Township Fire Department. He always liked being of service to others. The most recent position he held was working at the front desk at Stratford Ecological Center at the age of 82; he loved seeing kids and adults enjoying the farm.
Jim always had a story, and we will certainly miss and remember him with smiles and tears; we hold on to the fact that he lived so many good years!
