James Paul Klingshirn of Columbus, Ohio passed away on January 22nd, just shy of his 71st birthday. Jim was born February 3rd, 1949 in Lima, Ohio to Edward and Lorene (Schmitz) Klingshirn. Jim graduated from Lima Central Catholic High School, and served in the United States Air Force where he worked as a mechanic on the KC-135 aircraft. He later attended The Ohio State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Jim worked as a driver for UPS for over 25 years and later at Schneider and Flichia Wholesale Distributing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lorene. Jim is survived by his son Joe (mother Martha) of Cincinnati, sister Janet Cary of Canal Winchester, and nephews Rob (Nicia), Jay, and Michael Cary.
Jim loved animals and had many dogs throughout life, most recently two pugs and a rescue mixed breed. Jim’s love of animals was evident not only to his dogs, but also through his support for organizations like the Columbus Humane Society, Paws for Purple Hearts, Ohio Pug Rescue, and the ASPCA.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 1st at Shaw Davis Funeral Home, 4341 North High Street, Columbus, OH 43214, from 1 PM to 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of the charities listed above.
