On August 25th 2024 James L. Ferrell born December 23, 1936 in Nelsonville, Ohio passed away at Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio surrounded by family. Preceded in death by parents James O. and Lois B. Ferrell. Survived by his wife Janet, sons Michael (Kelly) and Timothy, grandson Wyatt, granddaughter Kailea, brother Dennis. niece Carrie, nephew Andrew, and friend Rebecca Ferrell.
Jim was a 1954 participant in American Legion Boys State. He was a 1955 graduate of Columbus South High School where he was elected class president and was a member of the basketball team. In 1959 he graduated from The Ohio State University where he earned a master's degree in education and was a varsity member of the basketball team. He was a longtime teacher and coach in the Columbus Public School system with stops along the way at Johnstown Monroe, Eastmoor, Whetstone, and Centennial high schools.
Jim enjoyed the outdoors, fly fishing and Ohio State athletics.
There will be no service. Jim's ashes will be scattered in nature.
