OLD
Jacob Bradley Old passed away on Wednesday, March 15, five days before his 22nd birthday. Jacob, fondly nicknamed ‘Sip’ by his friends here in the North, had lived in Hickory, Mississippi prior to moving to Bexley in 2011. He attended Bexley High School where he lettered in football and track, Being a natural athlete in many sports, his main focus was football. He loved his teammates and being part of the Bexley High School Football Team as outside linebacker and fullback. Jacob earned Second Team All-District and Second Team All-Conference Honors. He attended Ohio Dominican University and was currently attending Columbus State. Jacob was employed by Panera Bread on Broad Street, and he had worked previously for The Top Steakhouse. He is survived by his mother Susan Old, step-father, Clarence Berghout, and father, Brad Old; Sister, Amanda Armstrong (Eric), nieces & nephew, Clara, Ava, and Cayden Armstrong, and brother Joseph Old; maternal grandfather, Richard Fletcher; paternal grandparents, Jim and Marcie Old. His maternal grandmother, Ella Susan Fletcher passed away in October 2011. Jacob had a special relationship with her and as a child fondly called her “Mudder.” For reasons known only to him, he chose to be known as ‘Jaycup Bradely Olde’ on social media. Maybe he did that to make us laugh and wonder why. If so, it worked!! Whether he is your Son, Grandson, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Sweetheart, or Friend and you called him Jake, Jacob, Sip, Jaycup, or Sweetheart, you have experienced his kindness, compassion, and humor; loved him because of his respectful, encouraging and positive attitude; and will miss him terribly. Our comfort is in knowing that Jacob is safe, loved, more alive than ever before, and truly HOME with his Lord and Savior, fully experiencing the love, mercy, grace, and peace of Jesus Christ. All Jacob’s family and friends are invited to join us in Celebrating Jacob’s Life on Tuesday, March 21st at Linworth Road Church, 5400 Linworth Road, Columbus, 43235. Visitation will be from 4:30-6:30pm, and his Memorial Service will begin at 7:00pm with the reception immediately following. We are so grateful and appreciative to Panera Bread for providing the reception meal for Jacob’s Celebration Of Life.
