J. Frank Rollison 67, of Phoenix Arizona said his final goodbye’s on October 13, 2015 at 9:49pm surrounded by loves ones. Frank was survived by his children, Carmen (Steve) Woods of Croton, Ohio, Carrie (Jeff) Rollison of Westerville, Ohio, Kim (Julie) Thatcher of Phoenix, Arizona, and James (Shirley) Rollison Jr of Flagstaff, Arizona; Siblings, Linda Hamilton of Odessa, Florida, Ray (Sue) Rollison of Pickerington, Ohio, Carolyn Gilkey of Lancaster, Ohio, and Joyce (Doug) Mauch of Claymont, Delaware; Grandchildren Denise, Sarah, Katelyn, Derrick, and Ashley; Nieces and Nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his Father James Francis (Jettie) Rollison and his mother Janice Miller Rollison.
When Frank was in his in his early 30’s he moved his family to Phoenix, Arizona from Ohio and started his own business in real estate. He lived the life of an entrepreneur, was very adventurous and loved living on the edge. One of his favorite things was boating. He loved going to San Diego and staying on his boat. He would travel out to the sea where he could no longer see land and stayed there for days at a time. That was his peace and serenity.
Frank also loved working with his hands. There was nothing he could not build. He was always remodeling something. He loved to buy houses, demo and rebuild them. One particular story we remember is when he built a full size deck in his garage for his son James, put it on a trailer and hauled it to Flagstaff for his house. He was so proud of this deck and so proud to deliver it. It was beautiful.
As a father, he was a loving mentor that provided stability and guidance. He was always wanting to provide the best for his family and children. He coached sports, supported his children in academics and even helped his son build a sound proofed room for garage band jams.
Frank loved music and special events. He even went ballroom dancing at times. He was always in the lead!!
One of the earliest memories from his Sister Linda was when Frank was 8 years old. He decided he wanted to run away from home. Linda said she was going to tell on him he is didn’t take her with him. So they packed a backpack and got on their bikes to “peddle” all the way to California. They stopped at Jimmy’s house for a bite to eat on the way and Jimmy’s mom called their parents. Needless to say that’s all the further they made it. Linda laughed when telling that story. The silly things you remember sometimes.
Frank was very kind hearted. He was always willing to help someone in need. He particularity had special ties with the Hispanic families in Phoenix and even spoke Spanish with them. If someone needed something Frank was always there to lend a hand.
Frank will truly be missed by many. His orneriness, his seriousness and his loving smiling will never be replaced with any other. He will never be forgotten and will be forever in our hearts.
No services / showings will be held. The family just asked that you share a story that is dear to your heart in remembrance of Frank. We all have that special place that will be filled with loving memories and sunshine when we think of Frank. “Daylight is burning.”
