Ila Brown

September 7, 1927 — February 7, 2019

Ila (Norman) Brown, age 91, was born in Lavonia, Georgia to Joel and Alberta (Johnson) Norman on September 7, 1927.  Ila gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a devoted Christian. On February 7, 2019, she transitioned to glory to assume her rightful place with The Lord. Ila graduated from High School in Hartwell, Georgia and later moved to Columbus, Ohio, where she met and fell in love with her husband, Joe Brown, how she affectionately referred to him.  Joe was in the Army, and he and Ila traveled to many places.  While they were living in Orléans, France, on December 9, 1959, Ila gave birth to her only child, Felisa.  Later the Browns moved back to the States and lived on many Army bases.  When Joe was deployed to Viet Nam, Ila wanted to move closer to her best friend and sister, Ora. She remained in Columbus, Ohio with daughter, granddaughter, and beloved sister, Ora until God summoned her home.

She leaves behind to mourn, her daughter, Felisa Brown and granddaughter Mikaela Brown-Rue, sister and best friend for life, Ora (Ralph deceased) Jones, Brother, Joseph Steven (Jean) Norman, and sister-in-law, Rose Norman.  Special Cousin, Glaydell Cumberlander, nieces, and nephews:  Priscilla Wilson, Brenda (Phillip) Harris, Diane (Michael) Garman, Michael (Linda) Jones, Karen (Sam) Perryman, Rory Norman, special niece and nephew, Michelle Jones and Rick Jackson, and special great-niece, Joelle Jackson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Sgt. Joe Mac Brown, parents, Joel and Alberta Norman, and brother Brooker T. Norman.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the American Heart Association in memory of Ila Brown.  Family will hold private memorial for Ila Brown.
