Heather R Johnson

Heather Robin Johnson, 77, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2024.

Heather was born in Sebring, Ohio, on Jan. 8, 1947, the daughter of the late Bob Wilbarger and Marguerite Wilbarger. She graduated from McKinley High School in 1965 and from Ohio State University in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. She met her husband, Tim Johnson, in Columbus. They married in July 1973 and were together until Tim’s passing in 2018. 

Heather worked for more than thirty years as an elementary school teacher dedicated to her students and colleagues in Columbus, Chillicothe, Bainbridge, and Cincinnati. After moving to Cincinnati in 1979, she and Tim raised two daughters, Holly and Carrie. 

She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished time with her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and close friends. She was an avid reader who loved the beach, especially Hilton Head, South Carolina and St. Augustine, Florida. 

Heather is preceded in death by her sister, Merril Wilbarger. She is survived by daughters Holly (Kevin) Kurz and Carrie (Erik Harden) Johnson; sister Cherie (Calvin) Combs; grandchildren Alex (Wally) Cosand; Kevin (Kirstie) Kurz; Robyn Kurz; and Allyson Kurz; and three great-grandchildren. 

A private interment will take place at a later date.
