HURLEY (Weatherby), GRACE E.

Grace Eldora Hurley, age 82, passed away from this life May 11, 2020 at her home in Westerville, OH.  She was born November 19, 1937, in Perry County, Ohio, to Clyde and Irene Bell.  Her mother, Irene, pass away due to childbirth complications.  Grace was blessed, as an infant she was adopted into the family by Homer and Wanda Weatherby (Clyde Bell’s sister), where she was raised and loved in Columbus, OH and lived the remainder of her life.

Grace was proceeded in death by her husband of 53 years, James Gordon Hurley, James’ son – James Edward Hurley, her first parents, Clyde and Irene Bell, second parents, Homer and Wanda Weatherby, sisters (by first parents) – Audrey Wolf, Jane Herron, Mary Brown and special sister (by second parents) – Martha Ruth Weatherby.  She is survived by her children – Deborah Grace Hall (Patrick) of Corinth, Texas, Jennifer Rae Stokes of Westerville, Ohio and Joseph Gordon Hurley of Westerville, Ohio, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  Also survived by special nephew and niece, Larry and Linda Brown, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Grace graduated from Linden-McKinley High School, Columbus, in 1955, and retired from The OSU Wexner Medical Center – Department of Medicine and College of Medicine in 1987, where she truly enjoyed her career as a medical secretary.  She was a member of Karl Road Baptist Church, The Clintonville Women’s Club, OSU Retirees Association, and a charter member of The OSU Wexner Medical Center Service Board.

Funeral arrangements by Shaw-Davis Funeral Home. A private family service will be held.  Officiating will be Penelope Kauffman.  Internment at Union Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio.  Memorial contributions may be sent to The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Clintonville Women’s Club in memory of Grace.
