Gideon (Gid) Hickman, age 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on January 20, 2018. He was born August 30, 1927 in Louisa, Kentucky. He served with the 29 Infantry Regiment in Germany during World War II. He returned to Columbus after the war and worked at Westinghouse Electric Company for 30 years. Upon retirement he and his wife Janet Stone Hickman spent 15 years in Florida boating, building houses and enjoying the warm weather. After he and Janet moved back from Florida, they bought a house in London, Ohio where they resided until they passed away. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Janet Stone Hickman of 62 years. He came from a large family of 10—6 sisters and four brothers. He is survived by brother Clinton Hickman (Sara), niece Cathy Hickman Fuller (Richard), great-niece Katelyn Bonko Bally (Shawn), great nephews Richard Smith (Sara) Christopher Scott Smith (April) and John D. Bonko. The following friends are not only special they are “once in a lifetime friends”: Dave and Peggy Doefler, Tina Castillos and family; Berenice Mijangos and family. They checked on him almost daily and did many chores for him that he was not able to perform due to failing health. Family will receive friends Wednesday 11-12 at THE SHAW DAVIS FUNERAL HOME 4341 N High St Cols. 43214 where funeral service will follow at 12 pm. Interment Kirkwood Cemetery London, Ohio.
