Flora Jane Hyatt was born in Syracuse, NY on 1-23-1936 and passed on 8-10-23 in Columbus, OH. The majority of Flora’s life was enriched by the upbringing of her Grandparents Major & Mrs. Armour McCrae, Salvation Army Officers in Findlay, Ohio. Flora Retired from Nationwide Insurance and was a long time Member of Maize Manor United Methodist Church where she counted contributions, worked in the office, called home bound members, served on Bereavement and Harvester luncheons. Predeceased by her Mother, Flora Alice Hyatt and survived by her Brother Don Hyatt, Cousin Carol of Findlay, Ohio. All Flora’s friends Kay Strausbaugh (caregiver), Dona Riedmiller, Lee Eichensehr, and Karen Stevens were all blessed with her wit, kindness, and enjoying her cat and bird trinkets. Flora graduated from OSU in 1962; taught at Geneva High School 1963-1967; taught at New Albany High School 1967-1971; and worked at Nationwide Insurance 1971-1997. She enjoyed attending OSU Women’s Basketball Games, working in her back yard, and watching the flowers grow while singing the OSU fight song to the birds. “Go Bucks.”
Cremation will occur at the Shaw-Davis funeral home (Clintonville) in Columbus, Ohio. The inurnment will take place in Findlay, Ohio at Maple Grove Cemetery on Saturday August 26, 2023, at 11:00am.
