Evangeline Groff, age 105, died 13th of July 2016. Born in San Diego, TX, 1910, daughter of Teodoro Gongora y Saenz and Maria Magdalena Lerma y Almaguer. Preceded in death by husband of 60 years, Chester Raymond Groff (WWII Veteran); brothers Theodore Gongora and Edmundo Gongora; sister Maclovia Cugini. Survived by sons Chester E. (Helen) Groff, Jr. and Keith (Weihua) Groff; 2 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; older sister (age 107) Vicki Panza of San Antonio, TX; over 40 loving nieces and nephews; 2 close friends Dawn and Annie. Long-time member of Our Lady of Peace. Also a member of the OSU Mother’s Club. Former Lazarus employee and member of the 20 year Associate Club. She and her late husband were members of the dwindling number of The Greatest Generation. The family expresses gratitude to the kind people at Wesley Glen and Kobacker House. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 17 at the SHAW-DAVIS FUNERAL HOMES, Clintonville Chapel, 4341 N High St. from 2-4 pm. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial Monday 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Peace Parish. Msgr. John Johnson, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
