Erma Garland

Erma Lou Garland (Brumfield) went to be with the Lord on July 23, 2018, at the Kobacker Hospice House in Columbus, OH, at the age of 67.

Erma is survived by her husband, William (Bill) Garland, of Pedro, OH; daughters Christina (Bob) Wagoner of Sturgis, MI, and Michelle "Mikki" Cassity (Jared) of Ironton, OH; Mikki's father, Robert (Bob) Jackson of Chesapeake, OH; siblings Helen Higginbothan, Albert (Judy) Coburn Lorrein, Norma Jean Willis (Jim), Wilma Plybon (Terry), and John Brumfield of Ironton, OH; grandchildren Shawna Erin Holbrook and Joshua Suttles of Sturgis, MI, Mykayla and Mykenna Cassity of Ironton, OH; and two great-grandchildren Alex and Shawn. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Gladys (Abdon) Brumfield of Ironton, OH.

Erma was born on November 28, 1950, in Ironton, OH. She graduated from Ironton High School in 1969. In 1989, Erma met the love of her life, Bill Garland. Together, they built a beautiful farm where they were able to enjoy watching their children and grandchildren grow. No matter who you were, the farm always felt like home because of Erma. Her passion in life was helping others, and she found no greater joy than putting a smile on someone else's face. If anyone ever needed for anything, she would be there to help.

Erma found comfort in her favorite Bible verse: Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) - "For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sunday, August 19, 2018, at 1:00 at Slab Fork United Methodist Church. Reverend Clyde Pennington will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Erma's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Kobacker Hospice House at 800 McConnell Drive, Columbus, OH 43214. The family would like to thank the staff at the Kobacker Hospice House, and to offer a special thank you to Ohio State University Hospital PCU Nurse, Laura, for her amazing care and love for our mother.
