Ellen Loreen Whelan

Ellen Loreen (Thompson) Whelan aged 63 passed away on July 30th, 2024, at St. Ann’s hospital. Born on October 24, 1960, in Columbus Ohio. Ellen lived a life filled with laughter, and a little bit of mischief.

Ellen is survived by her children Carrie Edwards, Martin Whelan (Dawn), Sean Whelan (Caroline) and Christopher Whelan. She was a grandmother to four lively grandchildren: Maddox, Martin, Maya and Jonah. Great grandmother to Emersyn Edwards. She was a sister to Walter Thompson,Anita Wilson, Dorothy Dennis, and Linda Baker. Multiple nieces and nephews.

Ellen was preceded in death by her Mother Leonore Thompson and father Donald Thompson, and brothers Glen Thompson and Earnest Thompson, as well as her son-in-law Brandon Edwards. Her sharp wit and infectious sense of humor will be dearly missed, but we find comfort in knowing she’s likely organizing a heavenly family reunion with those who went before her.

While Ellens physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family and friends. In her honor let us remember to laugh often, love deeply and indulge in a little extra of what life has to offer. Most of all She Made us laugh.
