Eileen Marie Lariviere passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 12, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio. Born on February 3, 1942, in Providence, Rhode Island, Eileen later made Columbus her home, where she built a life filled with love and cherished memories. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerard and Edna Lariviere; her sister, Lea Lariviere; her husband, Thomas Powers; and her son, William Powers. She is survived by her sister Janet Smith (Stephen), brothers Steven Lariviere and Danny Lariviere (Diane), her daughter Mary Chaffin (Ron), and her sons George Shaw (Lisa), Charles Lariviere (Angela), Joseph Powers (Bonnie), Thomas Powers (Melissa), Jonathan Powers, and Gerard Powers (Brittney). Eileen’s legacy also includes 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life. Eileen proudly served her country as a member of the United States Air Force. After completing her military service, she pursued higher education and earned a Master’s degree from The Ohio State University. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including tending to her plants, solving crossword puzzles, and playing cards with friends and family. A funeral service will be held at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery Mother of Sorrows Chapel in Columbus, Ohio, on a date to be announced in March.
