Dorothy Rose Russell, age 59, of Columbus, Ohio, died unexpectedly at her home Sunday, November 15, 2020. Rose was born March 17, 1961 to the late Dorothy “Dotte” L. (Turner) and Hal G. Russell in Decatur, Illinois. She is survived by her daughter Brooke M. Russell Burch, and siblings Hal J., Kevin S., and Lisa (Mary) L. Russell. She attended Columbus North High School and Franklin University. Rose was a fun-loving, very social, and spiritually inquisitive person. A nature lover, she had a green thumb, took in stray cats, and liked gardening, camping, and attending festivals. She loved live music and supporting the local music scene, being a hostess, dancing, reading, art, and cooking. Rose cared deeply for others, and her sweetness, intelligence, and poetic spirit will be missed by family and friends.
A memorial service, coinciding with Rose’s 60th birthday and the Spring Equinox, will be held on Saturday March 20, 2021 at the Shaw-Davis Funeral Homes Clintonville Chapel, 4341 N. High St., Columbus, Ohio 43214. The family will receive guests from 11 am to 12 pm, with the service beginning at noon. Due to the continued COVID-19 restrictions, the number in attendance will be limited to 40 people, masks and social distancing will also be required while visiting the funeral home.
