Donald (Don) Landis

May 23, 1942 — June 21, 2019

Donald (Don) Allan Landis (05/23/1942) of Sunbury, Ohio went home to see Jesus on June 21,
2019. Don said he was a sinner saved by grace and that he would rather people know Jesus than
remember him. He loved telling people about Jesus and telling stories. He did not know a stranger.
Don loved his family, old Gospel Hymns, old cars and loud pipes, chrome (He chromed everything he
could.), was very proud to be an American and much much more. Don was a US Army Veteran who served
in Germany driving a wrecker truck. Don was an owner/operator Bulldozing Specialist for Landis
Grading for 40 years. There wasn’t a piece of equipment he could not operate. Don was most known
for driving his blue 1964 GMC Crackerbox dozer truck that he later turned into a parade truck for
family and friends to ride on and throw candy in several area parades. He would make those pipes
sing on that truck as he shifted those gears. You could hear him coming down the road from miles
away on a clear night. After he retired from dozing he went to work driving dump truck for Mid-Ohio Paving in
Centerburg, Ohio. He loved spreading gravel, visiting with his customers, and making their jobs
look good. Don spent the last 16 years wintering in Florida so he could golf all year long.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Robert (Bob) and Marjorie (Marj) Landis of
Westerville and his brother Douglas Landis.

He is survived by the love of his life for 53 years, Linda (Ryder) Landis and his daughters Shelly
Arnold (Scott), Jill Hayden (Eric), and Shendra Miller (Ben) and his 10 grandchildren whom he
adored, Olivia, Ethan, & Ryan Arnold, Grant, Alex, & Jake Hayden, Charlotte, Kaleb, Annabelle
& Luke Miller. His brothers, Dave Landis, Dale Landis (JoAnn), and Dennis Landis (Wendy)
and countless nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Don’s Life will be at Genoa Baptist Church, 7562 Lewis Center Road, Westerville,
OH 43082 Sunday, June 30th at 3:00pm. Dress Patriotic. There will be a Salvation Army bucket to put
change in to honor Don because he NEVER passed a Salvation Army Red Bucket without putting money
in. In lieu of flowers, donations are to be made to the Salvation Army Central Ohio, 966 East Main Street, Columbus, OH 43205.
