Don Garvin Davis, 82, of Columbus, Ohio passed away on January 22, 2023.
Don grew up in Wilmington, Ohio leaving to pursue a military career in the United States Army. However, he spent his formal years in Columbus, Ohio. Don started working at Children’s Hospital then held a position at T.I.C.O. – Training Institute of Central Ohio for 30 years and retired from there. He also played and recorded gospel music. Don played the guitar for several churches and his own band for years. He was a active member of Gospel Lighthouse Church. Don practiced martial arts - Karate, road motorcycles and also started doing photography after he retired for several years until he was paralyzed in 2016. He will be dearly missed and always remembered.
Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife Lydia Davis, his parents Daniel D. and Edith Davis, three sisters Betty Lovett, Kay Scott, and Lear Frances Simon, as well as his brother Daniel B. Davis.
He is survived by daughter Dawn G. Davis, stepdaughters - Mary L. Batances (Louis) in Milton, Florida grandchildren-David Lewis in Louisville, Kentucky, Jonathan Cordova- USSF Los Angeles, California, and Jessica in Milton, Florida - great granddaughter Milia Richerson of Milton, Florida.
Letha Curtis, grandchildren- Brian Curtis, Charlie Calaway and Lydia Curtis. Marsha Harrington, grandchildren -Mellissa Curtis and Garvin Curtis , great grandson Salio Barry of Columbus, Ohio.
Don’s four brothers survived Arnold (Barbara) Davis, Carlton (Linda) Davis, Nathaniel Davis all in Dayton, Ohio and Mark Davis Sr. in Wilmington, Ohio. A sister Pamela Anderson of Dayton and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
