Dolores J Sramcik

November 25, 1933 — January 18, 2025

Dolores Joan “Jo” Sramcik passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Worthington Christian Village.

She was born in Somerton, Ohio. Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph L. Huntsman and Esther Lynn Huntsman Hendershot; husband, John N. Sramcik and eight older siblings. She is survived by her daughters Jennifer and Julie; her grandchildren, Lauren Moore (Kevin Bauer) and Nicholas Moore (who knew her affectionately as “Nana Banana” and love her forty); and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She graduated from Quaker City High School where she played the clarinet and was a majorette; She attended White Cross School of Nursing and received her CRNA Master’s Degree at The Ohio State University. She devoted over forty plus years to her career as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) at Riverside and Mt. Carmel Hospitals in their Labor and Delivery Departments.

In retirement, Jo was an active member of her community and church. She spent much of her time volunteering, traveling, caring for and playing with her grandchildren, and watching her favorite soap operas or “soapies” as she called them. She also enjoyed visits with her “grand dogs” Seneca, Somerton and Tina. She had a gift for Latin and English, and rarely found a crossword puzzle that she could not solve. Jo was obsessed with the color green, coffee, caramel and ducks. She enjoyed shopping (especially at Lazarus and bargain hunting while in Florida); watching OSU Buckeyes football and basketball games (but only if they were winning, otherwise she would notoriously turn them off early); the annual Quaker City, Ohio Hills Folk Festival; playing the “peanuts” card game and bingo; Sunday church services and bible study; spending winters in Florida; manicures, pedicures and sweets brought to her by family and friends.

Her Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jo Sramcik’s memory may be made to Worthington Christian Village “Employee Fund”, where she received compassionate care in Assisted Living and exceptional care in their Skilled Nursing Care Center or contact: ALS United Ohio at alsohio.org.
