Delmer Lavely

August 15, 1934 — April 23, 2016

Delmer George Lavely, 81, went to his heavenly home on April 23, 2016, surrounded by his loved ones after battling a short illness.  His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and gave him peace. Delmer was born to the late Harold Lavely and Edith Hardesty on August 15, 1934, in Columbus, Ohio.  He was an electrician with Local Union #683.  In his early years he was a member of the Calvin Presbyterian Church, Beechwold Church of Christ and currently was a member and usher at The Worthington Christian Church.  He was also a member of The American Bell Association; he enjoyed collecting bells and naddirs with his wife.  He volunteered at the Worthington Christian Village and the Worthington Library. In his spare time, he collected foreign coins and enjoyed working in his flower beds.  Delmer knew no stranger.  He loved to make new friends and still maintained close friendships with childhood peers. He married his best friend in 1953 (63 wonderful years).  He was blessed with a large and loving family.  He helped raise his seven children.  From the very beginning he dedicated his children to God and encouraged them to continue their journey with God as adults.  He will be missed dearly by friends and family who celebrate the fact that he is with his maker. Delmer is survived by his wife Barbara, his sons Craig Lavely and Chad (Rick Garrison) Lavely; his daughters Cindy (James) Terry, Christy (Rob) Johnson, Cheryl (Bob) Archer, Carla (Anthony) Duda, Connie (Steve) Drabick; his grandchildren Matthew (Gail Stiverson) Terry, Nathan Terry, Robby (Katie) Johnson, Alicia Archer, Ashley Archer; his great grandchild Brayden Johnson; his sister Margie Likens and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister Greta Walls. Family will receive friends at THE BEECHWOLD CHRISRTIAN 280 Morse Rd. Cols 43214. Saturday 11am with visitation starting at 10am. Food and fellowship will follow the service. Brother Patrick Mauger officiating.
