BROWN HOLZBACHER
Deborah Lynn Brown (nee Holzbacher) passed away September 10, 2015 at Riverside Hospital after a long illness. She was born September 26, 1952 in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Brookhaven High School in 1970. Debbie had a great sense of humor combined with “dry wit” that got you every time. She was always there for her family, friends, and really anyone in need. Debbie worked at General Electric for many years and met the love of her life, Matthew Brown. They married, and eventually moved to Londonderry, in southeast Ohio. She loved her home there. Debbie and Matt shared an interest in motorcycles and spent much of their time “riding”. They had wonderful get-togethers, which we will all cherish. She was very artistic and creative. Debbie was raised in a family that was very much into history, especially Civil War history. Her favorite place was Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, so much she planned her wedding there. She obtained her paralegal degree and worked in the court system in McArthur, Ohio. As much as she loved this profession, it led her to her true calling, which was running a battered women’s shelter. She was a very strong advocate for these women and their families. Debbie also loved music, rock music the most. She became a pioneer, constructing and maintaining a website for the AlRosa Villa in the early days. Thinking of Debbie puts a smile on our faces. She will be missed by all who knew her. Debbie was preceded in death by her infant son Duane and parents Robert and Eula Holzbacher. She is survived by husband Matthew Brown; sister Donna Cautela; brother Robert Holzbacher Jr.; children Dustin (Rachel) Holzbacher, Nathan (Billie Jean) Holzbacher, Donal (Chris) Penwell, Melissa Harper, Nicholas (Rachel) Brown, Amanda (Lew) Atwood, Jeffrey (Danielle) Brown, Mark Brown, and Rose (Bill) Murray; grandchildren Trillyn, Aja, Elijah, Jacob, Ryan, Grace, James, Lilian, Olivia, Henry, Alina, Reagan, Robbie, and Theo. Memorial service will be held September 21, 2015 at 3:00 pm at the Shaw-Davis Funeral Homes, 34 West 2nd Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43201. Pastor Malcolm Davis officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shepherd’s House – (866) 596-9271
