David Ray Young

David R, Young, 63, passed away in his sleep at his home and entered his eternal home on March 15, 2023. Was a certified mechanic who worked for Oakland Park Shell Station (with his dad and brothers), Rick’s Auto Service, Young’s Auto Service (with his brother, Harry), and Columbus Car Trader. Preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Anita Young, his brother, Robert Young, his beloved daughter, Kelsey Young, and his fur baby, Rocky. He is survived by his daughters, Heather Coon (Nick) and Lori Young, brother, Harry Young (Kathy), twin sister, Diane Wright (Larry), 7 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. David was a member of Bethel International United Methodist Church (Columbus) where he served in several volunteer positions. He attended Northland H.S. (1978 graduate) and attended the University of Northwestern Ohio (Automotive Technology). David was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, and brother. He was also a loyal employee, a loyal friend, and an avid dog lover.  Fifteen years ago, David turned his life over to God to overcome his alcohol addiction and has been an inspiration to many others. He was an amateur HAM Radio operator and a member of the West Central Ohio Amateur Radio Association. Arrangements are being handled by Shaw-Davis Funeral Home & Cremation Services at 4341 N. High Street, Columbus, OH 43214. A Celebration of Life service will be held for David on April 15, 2023 at Bethel International United Methodist Church, 1220 Bethel Road, Columbus, OH 43220. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 with a service immediately following at 2:00.
