David Morris Teasley, 88, died peacefully at the Brookdale Trillium Crossing Retirement Home in Columbus, Ohio on January 5, 2019. Major Teasley was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars during his 20-year career in the United States Air Force, and served during the Cold War in the Strategic Air Command on B-52 bombers in the 461st Bombardment Wing. David met his late wife of 53 years, Patricia LaVerne Mendle Teasley, while stationed at Ellington USAF Base in Houston, TX.
After his military discharge on November 30, 1967, David served as a police officer in Irving, TX specializing in criminal identification, and later as a deputy sheriff in the court system and then deputy constable in Harris County, TX until his final retirement. David was a faithful member of various congregations of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, including Trinity in Houston, TX and lastly at Beautiful Savior in Arlington, TX. His favorite hobbies included bowling, computer repair, competitive target pistols, and astronomy, where he built his own telescopes.
David was born in Scriba, NY on October 20, 1930 to James Thomas and Elnora Toy Teasley as one of seven siblings. He was married to Patricia on June 4, 1954, who preceded him in death on July 15, 2008. He is survived by his sister, Jeanne Yeager, 91, his sons, William, Mark, and Paul, their spouses, and his five grandchildren.
David was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and proud to have served God, his family and his country. He is loved and honored, and will be greatly missed in this life.
A memorial service will be held at Shaw Davis Funeral Home in Columbus, Ohio on January 20, 2019 with calling at 1 pm and officiated by Pastor Richard Schneider. Donations to Wycliffe Bible Translators are requested in lieu of flowers.
