David John Newman, 42, passed away suddenly and in his sleep on September 3rd in Dublin, Ohio. His memorial service will be held at Shaw Davis Funeral Home in Clintonville, Ohio on Friday September 14th, from 5pm to 7pm. A service to honor him will start at 6pm where friends and family are encouraged to share their favorite stories and memories of Dave.
David was born in Walnut Creek California in 1975 to John Newman and Linda Newman. He spent his childhood living in Irvine, California. After moving to Ohio in 9th grade, he graduated from Worthington Kilbourne High School and attended the Ohio State University.
David discovered his passions for music and instruments at a young age by teaching himself a tune on the piano by playing-it-by-ear and his talent for drumming in middle school and while playing in the WKHS marching band. Dave was a member of several rock bands and was well known in the Columbus music scene. His thunderous beats can be heard on the band “Fenster’s” self titled first release.
Dave was known for his quick wit, his loyalty to his friends and family, and an encyclopedic knowledge of film and music. His brilliance and keen ability to have total recall of random facts made him the person everyone wanted on their trivia or board game team. Technology, gadgets, computers and cooking were hobbies of his and recently, he had been providing internal technical support to employees of PNC Bank.
Dave is survived by and will be dearly missed by his mother Linda Ryan, his father John Newman and stepmother Donna Newman, his sister Carrie Newman-Yaeger and brother-in-law Vince Yaeger, his nieces Morgan and Murphy Yaeger, and his brother Dan Newman.
