BUTLER, DAVID JAMES (Jim), 78, of Columbus, OH passed away at his home on July 26, 2019. He was born in Chelsea, MA on July 9, 1941.
Jim served in the US Army from 1961-1963, serving in Vietnam in the Signal Corps at Tan Son Nhut Air Base. He graduated from the Art Institute of Boston in Boston, MA in 1968. Before his retirement, Jim was employed as a manager for the Ohio National Bank, the Advertising Checking Bureau and Franklin-Covey. Jim was active in veterans’ groups, most notably the Vietnam Veterans of American and the VVA Color Guard. Jim was also an avid artist, working at several local galleries. Jim enjoyed sketching, painting, collecting knight figurines, traveling across the US and, most importantly, spending time with his family, friends and Army buddies. Jim will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather; a proud veteran; a talented artist; and a loyal and dependable friend.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dolores (nee Dillahunt); his son Andrew (Paula) Butler, of Madeira, OH; and grandson, Brian Butler, also of Madeira, OH.
