LEWIS
Colleen Marie Lewis, 76, went to be with Jesus on April 18, 2017, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She passed peacefully at home, with her devoted husband by her side. Colleen was born to the late Willard Fenton and Marie Opperman, December 5, 1940, in Youngstown, Ohio. She proclaimed Jesus as her Savior. Though small in stature, Colleen possessed a faith that was strong and unshakeable. Before her illness, she spent her time volunteering at church, painting and homeschooling 3 of her children and 2 of her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Colleen was preceded in death by her step-father Ronald Opperman and her sister Donna. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Melvin Lewis; sister, Joyce Wiseman of Lindstrom, Minnesota; daughter, Michele Fiste of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Teresa Rowland of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Beth Hampton, and her husband Don, of Greensboro, North Carolina; son, Michael Lewis of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Shara, Anthony, Maxwell, Hadassah, Japheth, Sarah, Gabriel, Robert and Hannah; and two great-grandchildren. She meant so much to so many. To Melvin, she was the greatest wife a man could have. She meant so much to him as a partner and best friend. Their love for each other was very evident. Her celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 29th, at Columbus Dream Center, 38 W. Greenwood Avenue Columbus, Ohio. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. and a reception for friends and family will follow the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
