Clista Jean Harris, a beloved resident of Franklin County, passed on February 12 2024, at the age of 65, after bravely battling illness for an extended period.
Clista was born on September 21, 1958 in Columbus, Ohio to Mary Veda and Carl David Ferrin. She spent her formative years in Orient, Ohio, and later settled in Columbus. Clista was truly a remarkable individual whose infectious joy touched the lives of all who knew her. Despite occasionally being a handful, she had a generous heart and was always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Professionally, Clista found fulfillment working at Ark Industries with a bachelor's degree in mental retardation and chemical dependency. Through her work, she made a positive impact on the lives of many individuals struggling with these challenges.
However, Clista's true pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with them, creating treasured memories that will be forever etched in their hearts. Clista also had a special affinity for animals and shared many fruitful years with her beloved pets.
Clista is survived by her children, William Eric Swanson and Angel Leah Swanson; her grandchildren: Aliyah Jean Bronson, Quentyn David Swanson, and Zayden Lee Swanson; as well as her siblings: Robert (Louise) Ferrin, Mitchell Ferrin, Veda (Kenny) Cook, and Tim (Beth) Ferrin. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her son Timothy Lee Ferrin; her parents Mary Veda and Carl David Ferrin; as well as her brothers Carl David Ferrin Jr., Larry Allan Ferrin, and Phillip G. Ferrin. Their memories will forever be cherished alongside Clista's own.
In remembrance of Clista's love for poetry, we find solace in a heartfelt poem that she would often recite:
"A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says, 'Grieve not for me.
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage; I’m counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest,
Remembering all how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small.
Go on with your life, don’t worry about falls.
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin,
Until the day comes we’re together again."
Clista Jean Harris will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Her warm smile, caring nature, and unwavering support will forever remain in our hearts. May her soul find eternal peace as we celebrate her remarkable life and cherish the memories she left behind.
