Clarence Jones passed away on Friday, May 19th, 2023, after a brief illness at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Clarence, affectionately known as Tony, was the oldest child born to the late Clarence Jones Sr and Dorothy (Polk) Jones White, in Benham, Kentucky, on October 6, 1956. Tony accepted Christ early and grew up attending Travelers' Rest Baptist Church. Tony was raised in the same home with his maternal grandparents, and many of his cherished memories were sitting next to his grandfather, who spoiled him rotten. Tony loved to make peanut butter cookies, a skill he learned as a kid while having baking contests with his siblings.
Tony enjoyed sports and played football for the Linden Eagles, as well as football and basketball for the Linden McKinley Panthers. Tony could debate sports with anyone, was a history buff, loved watching reality tv, and Star Trek. Tony enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. On most holidays, Tony could be found giving his family a hard time. If he wasn’t being a jokester or playing a few harmless pranks, Tony was helping someone fix anything broken. Tony is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, father, Clarence Jones Sr., daughter Christina Jones, brother Brian White, uncle Clarence Polk, and stepfather Robert White.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted mother Dorothy White, children Clarence Hester, Danielle ( Kendrick) Price, Marquita Jones, and Marqeus Jones, sisters Tanya Jones Singletary, Adella Jefferson, and Vickie Flood, and uncle Marcus (Betty) Polk. He also leaves to mourn his passing 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a host of relatives and friends; Claudette Jones, Lawanna Hester, and special friend Betty McFalls.
