Christopher Clements of Columbus, Ohio passed on the morning of Nov 21 at the age of 59. He was a lifelong resident of Columbus, graduate of Whetstone High School, retired Columbus firefighter, handyman, gourmet cook, meat smoker, softball player, animal lover, curmudgeon, and jack of all trades. His homemade pizza crust became known internationally (well city-wide, anyway). Chris lived in his boyhood home in Clintonville and loved to spend time at the Firemans’ Park campground at Buckeye Lake. Chris was a lifelong Buckeye fan, Reds fan, and long-suffering Brown’s fan. He read the Lord of the Rings trilogy more times than anyone on earth. He was an avid movie buff and could quote vast amounts of funny movie dialogue at the drop of a hat. He was a smart aleck to friends and strangers alike, and stubbornly continued to use a 15-year-old flip phone that he sometimes forgot to answer. Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter? No way. Chris will be missed by all who crossed paths with him. Chris is survived by his wife Nancy, daughter Sarah (Chris) Hartzler (grandchildren Claire and Owen), son Keith Clements, daughter Leah Clements, brother Doug (Janet), and five nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents Hugh and Patricia (Hutchison). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Charity Newsies. Memorial service to be scheduled later, probably at Buckeye Lake on a beautiful spring day.
