Charles Everett Zech

Charles, Chuck, Charley, Uncle Charles, Dad, Grandpa, Great-grandpa, Great great-grandpa was born October 22, 1928 in Columbus, Ohio. He left us to be with his life long partner, Phyllis Ann Zech (Bost)(Haag) on Tuesday, September 26, 2017.

He is the seventh child of Everett Samual Zech and Louie Edith Zech(Boyer). A graduate of North High School, he worked at Big Bear for a while and Columbus Coated Fabrics for 46 years. He was on CCF's softball league making many lifelong friends with his teammates. Chuck was an avid Union member and supporter.  He liked bowling, camping, fishing, playing cards and board games.  Chuck and Phyllis hosted many exchange students through Youth For Understanding. He liked to travel and had been to almost all fifty states, Mexico, Canada, England and Brazil.  He especially loved traveling with family and/or friends to visit family and friends both near and far.  He was the best Father figure to his family and many, many others.  Chuck was a most excellent husband.  He was also a very nice friend.

Preceded in death by his father Everett Samuel Zech, mother Louie Edith Zech(Boyer), brothers John Harrison, Henry Earl, sisters Mary Poetker, Myrtle Krumm, Elizabeth Lockwood and Minnie Wise.  Also preceded in death by his best friend Paul Shore and Pauls' wife Joanne Shore.

Chuck is survived by his children Paula C. Boyd(Roger), Charles F.(Judy), Joann L. Nagel(Ben), Rebecca A. Webster(Dan), Faye E. McDowell and John H.(Bethann); grand children Leah Higginbotham, Adam Higginbotham, Rachael Otis, Sarah Lindsey, Colleen Zech, Casey Leis, Benjamin Nagel, Jessica Nagel, Seth McDowell, Noah McDowell, Amanda Zech and Kyle Zech; numerous great-grandchildren and one great great-grandaughter.  He is also survived by a multitude of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to thank Mayfair Village Health Care and Heartland of Westerville for caring for Charles after hospitals stays. The family sends gratitude to Mount Carmel Hospice for their wonderful team members who looked after Charles and his family with such compassion.

There will be a get together at University Baptist Church; October 29, 2017;  2 - 6 PM; 50 W Lane Ave.; Columbus, Ohio  43201
