Cecil Gilyard

Apostle Cecil W. Gilyard, was born October 18, 1952 in Richtex South Carolina, to James E. Gilyard Sr. and Mae Belle Gilyard. He departed his earthly home on January 25, 2020 in Columbus, Ohio.

He was educated in Fairfield County Schools, where he was a graduate of McCrorey-Liston. Apostle Gilyard received his call into the ministry in the early 1980s.

Apostle Gilyard leaves to celebrate his legacy his daughter April Lynn and son Andrae David, his mother Mae Belle Murray; sisters Earnestine (Willie) Tyler, Christine Gilyard Sumter, Tracy Porter all of Columbia SC; brothers Bishop Larry (Pauline) Gilyard, Sr. of Columbus Ga, James E. Gilyard, Jr. of Columbia, SC and Edward F. Murray of Columbus Ga; brother in law Edward Sumter of Columbia, SC, a special cousin Tywon Harris, special friends Mr. Jerry Addison, Chuck Delaney and Elder Roscoe McGill, a host of nieces, nephews, aunt, uncles and friends who will cherish his legacy.

He was preceded in death by his son, David Andrae, brother Thomas Adam “Tony” Gilyard, Sr., nephew Thomas Adam Gilyard, Jr., father James E. Gilyard, Sr., stepfather Edward “Pop” Murray; paternal grandparents Chappelle Gilyard, Sr. and Rebecca Trapp Gilyard; maternal grandparents Alvin Stewart Sr. and Viola Thompson Stewart.
