FRONT

Casimir Joseph Front, 93, of Columbus, OH, former long-time resident of Weirton, died of natural causes on Monday, October 3rd, at the Mother Angeline McCrory Manor in Columbus. “Cas” was born to Vincent and Kunegunda Front on June 4, 1923 in Wheeling, WV. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during WWII, then re-enlisted in the Army Air Force after the war and was stationed in Germany. Cas was very proud of his service during the Berlin Airlift, when the U.S. Air Force airlifted vital supplies over the Soviet blockade to the starving people of Berlin. He was serving in the Pentagon in Washington, DC, when he met and married Cecelia (nee Whitehead) of Follansbee, WV, who was working as a Registered Nurse in Washington. After their first child, Ronald, was born, the family relocated to Weirton, where they had two additional children, Chris and Madonna. The Front family belonged to St. Joseph the Worker Parish and all three children were graduates of Madonna High School.  Cas was an avid sports fan, particularly devoted to the teams of Madonna High School, West Virginia University, and the St. Louis Cardinals. He worked for the Signode Steel Strapping Company for 30 years before retiring. He was preceded in death by Cecelia, and is survived by son Ronald J. Front (and wife Kathy) of Columbus, OH, son Chris M. Front (and wife Jessica) of Washington, DC, daughter Madonna (and husband James) Heis of Morgantown, WV, and son Jimmy Voluizan (and wife Cathy) of France, and grandchildren James, Steeve, Nicholas (and wife Sophie), and Anne (and husband Jean-Marc), as well as great grandchildren Enzo, Sacha, Remi and Lucas. There will be a private funeral mass in Columbus, OH. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Mother Angeline McCrory Manor, 5199 East Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43213.
