Carolyn Joyce Gravely

Carolyn Joyce Gravely, 74, peacefully went to eternal rest early Monday morning, March 25th, 2024 in her Columbus, Ohio residence. She was born on May 14th, 1949 in Coalwood, West Virginia to her parents Joseph Edward Gravely and Normaree Roberta Gravely. In 1968, she graduated from Big Creek High School located in War, West Virginia. After graduation, Carolyn spent a few years in Merced, California then moved to Columbus, Ohio. While in Columbus, Ohio, she worked at Sears Distribution Center for over 25 years. When Sears began to shut down, Carolyn’s light began to shine at Eddie Bauer for the next 10 years. She spent the next 11 years illuminating at Radial, Inc. until she retired in 2019. Carolyn was recognized over the years for her dedication and outstanding service.

Carolyn loved to love people! She was dedicated to her family and passionate about her friends. Her energetic spirit and kind eyes would welcome you into her heart. Once you were in her heart, you stayed and enjoyed her witty personality. She took pride in crocheting blankets, scarves, and hats for her loved ones. She also enjoyed taking long walks at parks, dancing to all genres of music, and caring for the flowers in her yard. Carolyn accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was able to give and receive love because of the love of Christ that was in her.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Edward Gravely and Normaree Roberta Gravely and her niece Desiree Gravely.

Left to cherish her memory are her siblings Ronald (Ophia) Gravely, Joseph (Jerilynn) Gravely, Norma (Sidney) Curley and Karl (Juli) Gravely. Her children, Herman (Tasha) Simmons, Sr, Tina (Steven) Lee and Michael (Valencia) Alexander, Jr.. Carolyn’s Grandchildren include Herman Simmons, Jr., Alona Simmons, Camryn Alexander, Caleb Watson, and Layla Simmons. The Nieces/Nephews: Efrem Harris, Norvell (Regina) Harris, Normaree (Chad) Harris Lee, Lesley (Michael) Durant, Joseph (Tia) Gravely Jr., Jessica (Ramsey) Ellis, Emilie Gravely, Karla (Reginald) Tipton and Kiara Gravely. Carolyn had a host of great-nieces and nephews she loved and dearly cherished. Also missing Carolyn is her lifelong friend Jimmy Mitchell and Sister-in-love Jerri Alexander.
