Carol Ann Shortridge of Columbus, Ohio passed away on December 11, 2024, at the age of 81, at home after a long illness surrounded by her family. Born on July 30, 1943, Carol lived a life marked by her loving, caring, and giving nature, and a deep appreciation for the joys of living. She approached life with a contagious enthusiasm and a keen sense of humor that endeared her to many.
Carol dedicated her professional life to the Department of Education, where she made significant contributions before her retirement. Her passion for education was paralleled by her love for her Italian heritage, art, history, gardening, music, architecture, and decorating. These interests not only filled her life with joy but also beautified the lives of those around her.
She is survived by her daughters, Vicki Anderson (Michelle) and Lisa Slayman (Mark); grandchildren, Sarah Huffman (Noah) and Ben Slayman; and her brother, Jerry Patchen. Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband Larry Shortridge, parents, Gerard (Jerry) Patchen and Violet (Martha) Cupoli Patchen, as well as her siblings, Rebecca and David.
A private family memorial service will be held to honor Carol's life. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Liver Foundation, an organization close to her heart.
