Carol was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She attended Otterbein University and Methodist Theological School in Ohio. Carol was ordained to the Unitarian Universalist Ministry of Religious Education in 1981 and became Minister of Religious Education at the church. In 1985, she was appointed District Consultant, Ohio-Meadville District of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations. In 1999, the church honored her as Minister Emerita.
Carol was a trailblazer as a woman in ministry and was the inaugural chair of the New Women and Religion Committee for the Unitarian-Universalist Association. She initiated sex education curriculum at the church in the 1960’s. A staunch advocate of her flocks, she was a devoted teacher, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her interests were many and eclectic and included art, dance, music, poetry, and travel. She and Paul loved their house on the hills of Cooke Road overlooking the creek and ravine below. Plants, wildlife and her hubcap garden brought daily delight. Carol was a fierce supporter of civil rights and social justice and ever hopeful of seeing the first woman elected President. Her passion and commitment to better lives for all will be missed.
