Carla Mae Horger

September 7, 1969 — January 27, 2025

Carla Horger, age 55, passed away suddenly on January 27, 2025, at the Ohio State University Hospital. She was born on September 7, 1969, in Columbus, Ohio, to Boyce and Betty Fraley. She lived her life in the service of others, always giving and trying to make life easier for others. A member of the Hilliard Church of Christ, she had become baptized late in life after meeting a group of special people that attracted her to the Lord.

In 1988, at the age of eighteen, she married her husband of almost 37 years, Jeffrey Horger. Together they shared a life and a love so strong that it was easily visible to those around them.

She attended the Bradford School in Columbus and graduated with an accounting certificate which aided her in her various work endeavors. But her most satisfying work came at the end of her career when she began work for a methadone clinic. She was always happier interacting with people and helping others than working in an office.

Carla’s social life centered around the board game world where she was one half of a game design team with Jeff. Eventually, this activity led them to create a publishing company, now known as Laboratory H. Hopefully, the games that she helped create will continue to enter the market in the coming years. Nothing filled her with joy as much as watching other people playing and enjoying a game that she had a hand in creating. She will be missed by many people in the board game world.

Carla enjoyed board gaming, soccer, travel, and creating diamond art. While she had no children, she managed to raise and love two Chow Chows in her life. The first one, Bruin, lived to be 15 years old. The second, Han, is now 5 and looking forward to a long life with Jeff.

Carla was preceded in death by her father, Boyce Fraley, brother Charlie Fraley, sister Rhonda Zornes, and twin infant sisters Jan and June.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Jeff, mother, Betty Snyder, brother, Tim Fraley and numerous nieces and nephews.

To those that know her, Carla will always remain an inspiration. Even with all her trials and setbacks, she always pushed through with a smile and indomitable spirit. Nothing could keep her down for long. Those that didn’t get to know her missed out on a truly loving and kind spirit.

The family will receive friends 4 - 6 PM Tuesday, February 18 at Shaw-Davis Funeral Home, 4341 North High Street, Columbus in a celebration of her life.
