Bryan O'Neil Barnes

February 5, 1975 — July 27, 2024

Its with profound sadness that we share the passing of Bryan O'Neil Barnes, who left us way to soon on Saturday July 27, 2024 at The Ohio State University James Cancer Center he was surrounded by his family. Bryan was a man of immense humor and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones.

Bryan was born in Trenton, New Jersey on Feb 5th, 1975 to Lewis & Deborah Barnes along the side of his big brother Little Lou. As a young boy Bryan loved his big brother, playing baseball and hanging out with friends, and listening to music and dancing. Childhood was spent living in different states and eventually the family made it back to Columbus, Ohio.

In July of 1995, Bryan's only child was born, Brynna McGrath, and she was his pride and joy. Bryan worked as a painter, painting interiors and exteriors of homes. He was devoted to his job and became a perfectionist in everything he did. Bryan was a die-hard Ohio State fan and even though he didn’t watch much NFL, he loved the Washington Redskins. 

In 2018, Bryan met the love of his life Peggy Myers (P.J) and her kids and eventually moved out to Newark, Ohio. That's where he worked for Strategic Material for 5 years making many new friends along the way. As an adult Bryan loved hanging with his family, listening to music, going camping, doing yardwork, & riding his bike. 

Bryan is survived by his mother Debbie Steele, two brothers Lewis (Jenn) Barnes and Shawn Barnes. His daughter Brynna McGrath (Bryce McCoy) and his longtime girlfriend/fiancé Peggy Myers (P.J). Bryan had two grandchildren Lacey Peppard & Colson McCoy, two stepchildren Hailey & Chris Myers. Bryan had a niece Alexius Grim (Shiloh) and nephews Skylar, Shawn, and Garin Barnes many aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be missed by an overwhelming number of friends.

Bryan was proceeded in death by his father Lewis Barnes (Big Lou) his grandparents John & Louise Barnes his grandparents Harold & Shirley King. His Uncle John Barnes (Junior), Aunt Darlene Roe & Aunt Dawn Barnes, Uncle Rick King and his Uncle Gary Barnes.
