Brenda Jo Creel Frecka of Powell, Ohio, passed away on June 25, 2024, surrounded by her family and friends in her home. She was 67 years old. Brenda fought a difficult battle with cancer. The void her absence will leave is immeasurable. To anyone that met her, Brenda was pure joy and sunshine. She radiated the love of Jesus. She would help anyone at any time and was quick to always give all the glory to Jesus. She had a caretaker’s heart and being a mother was her most prized job and role. Brenda had four children and 17 grandchildren.
Brenda was born in Atlanta, Georgia on September 20, 1956, to Betty Jo and William Edgar Creel. She grew up in Michigan and attended Central Michigan University. She married David Frecka on July 24, 1976. The two met at their church youth group.
A devoted philanthropist, Brenda spent countless hours and resources to support many charities. She did meaningful work with Make-a-Wish, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Lifetown and the Ried Foundation. She established and supported numerous food pantries and veterinary clinics. She supported Christian missions in Thailand and through her home church, Genoa Baptist. She was also active in the Republican Party. One of her final charitable acts was establishing the Brenda Frecka sports complex at Genoa Christian Academy. Anyone who met her felt her warmth and her desire to help anyone without hesitation.
Brenda’s most sacred role was that of wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jo. She is survived by her husband, David, and their four kids: Jason (Megan), Jenni (Dan), Katie (Justin) and Jordan (Ashley). Known as Gigi or Bebe, she is also survived by 17 grandchildren: Taylor, Kate, Lauren, Logan, Zack, Mallory, Olivia, Liam, Jack, Annabelle, Wyatt, Eli, Ethan, Remi, Asher, Kaden and Nixon. She is also survived by her brother William (Blanca) and her father William Edgar.
Throughout her cancer journey, Brenda collected feathers as a symbol of God’s promise to protect her. “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday (Psalm 91:4). Brenda lived her faith every day. She will be deeply missed.
