Bernard L. Granger, Sr., age 84, departed this life on March 1, 2018. He was preceded in death by his father, John Granger, Sr. (Roanoke, VA), mother, Lillie Granger (Urbancrest, OH), brother, John (Johnnie) Granger, Jr., Kenneth (Fats) Granger, sister, Martha Ann White; daughter, Michelle L. Granger, and son, Bernard L. Granger, Jr.
Bernie served as a devoted Jehovah’s Witness for most of his adult life. Bernie retired from the Columbus School Board after 26 years of dedicated service. A graduate of East High School, Bernie was a starting member of the first State High School Basketball Championship for the city of Columbus in 1951.
Bernie is survived by his son Gary (Lori) Granger, daughters, Pamela J. Granger, Karen M. Granger and Tara M. Granger; grandsons. Brian Granger, Jason Granger, Albert Milner, Michael Granger, Tayvin Ziegler, Aaron Granger, Gary Granger, Jr., Dominic Granger and Fierce Granger; and granddaughters, Melanie Crowley, Immanuela Granger, Tremayna Granger, Ivory Granger, Francoise Granger, and Tara Granger, Naomi Granger, Love Granger, and Jehannah Granger; a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; lifelong friend, Dickie James, and special family friend, Shirley Pruitt.
Bernie will always be remembered for his distinctive wit and charm, but most importantly for his passion for family, and dedication to his faith.
Special appreciation to the Kobacker House and Columbus Alzheimer’s Care Center for the expert care, compassion and kindness.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Bexley Kingdom Hall, 570 Robinwood Avenue, Columbus Ohio 43213 where family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the start of service at 2:00 p.m.
