TEAL

Barbara Colleen (nee Hakes) Teal, Born May 11, 1929 Died September 28, 2015 at the age of 86.  Colleen is survived by her sister Joan R. Shade, her children: S. Douglas (Teresa) Ballantyne, Susan K. (Jerry) Pack, Arthur W. (Shirley) Ballantyne, Wendy R. (Segundo) Ramirez, and Bryan B. (Aretta) Ballantyne, 11 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren.  Colleen attended North High School in Columbus, Ohio and married Arthur William Ballantyne, Jr. in 1946 (divorced 1975).  They had 5 children.  She lived in Columbus until 1980, when she moved with her husband, Jack M. Teal to Florida by way of Savannah, GA.  Colleen was a 30 year resident of Plant City, Florida, and had many friends at the Country Woods, The Meadows & The Arbors.  She was loved by many for her kind and giving nature, she always had words of encouragement during any time of distress.  Her most effective reaction to any emergency was “let’s sit down and have a cup of tea, and talk about this”.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur W. Ballantyne, Jr., husband Jack M. Teal, her father Lawrence Kenneth Hakes and her mother Dorothy Ruth (Holdren) Hakes.  Colleen was a long time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints.  Cremation was handled by Shaw Davis Funeral Home.   The time and place of a memorial service has not been determined.  It was Colleen’s desire that her ashes be interred with her late husband Jack M. Teal at Bushnell National Military Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.  May She REST In Peace.
