Anne Marie Murray Brodell, age 89, was born on December 6, 1927 in Sainte Laurent, France and died peacefully on February 26, 2017 in Columbus, Ohio. She survived World War II and became a war bride. After her marriage in France to GI Charles Murray, the family resided in Canandaigua, New York. Anne was a sweet and gentle woman who was loved by all who knew her. She will be sadly missed by her friends at The Woodlands of Columbus. Anne was trained as a bookkeeper in France and continued her profession in the US. She taught French adult classes and children in the various cities in which she lived. It was her greatest joy to be a French teacher at the Canandaigua Middle School. Anne was also an avid knitter; making sweaters, afghans and items for herself and friends. Preceded in death by her parents Emile and Louise Hartmann Marty, her first husband Charles Murray and son Patrick Murray. Survived by her husband Sheldon Brodell, daughter, caregiver and best friend, Jacqueline Lukasik and son Larry Murray (Maggie Henry), 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, sister Mimi Boulanger and brother Paul Marty of France and several nieces and nephews. There will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kindred Hospice at 540 Officecenter Place, Suite 100, Gahanna, OH 43230 or the Canandaigua Salvation Army, New York where she had volunteered.
