Alma Carolyn Bright

Alma Carolyn (Hutton) Bright, 72, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Brookdale Lakeview Crossing in Groveport, Ohio with her loving daughters, Vonda and Angi by her side. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on August 7, 1950 to Henry Gilmore Hutton and Alta Louve Hutton and grew up in the Short North area where she attended Everett Junior High School. She was employed by Big Bear and retired in 2006. Alma’s hobbies throughout her life included playing bingo, Canasta and Euchre, and watching game shows and old Westerns. She enjoyed traveling to Amish Country and Wheeling, West Virginia. She was a Believer in the Christian Faith and attended World Harvest Church in Canal Winchester, Ohio.

Alma was married to Roger Lee Mays from 1967 to 1971. She remarried in 1997 to Robert “Bobby” Clayton Bright. Alma is preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert “Bobby” Clayton Bright (2006), and siblings Henry “Jay” (Betty) Hutton, Kenneth Hutton, and Barabra Hutton. She is survived by her children Vonda Charlene (Steve) Paxton and Angela Nicole (Mike) Fisher; grandchildren Myah Elizabeth Paxton, Seth Daniel Bentley, Christian Logan Fisher, and Noah Grant Fisher; siblings Doris (Bob-deceased) Ryan, Marlene (George-deceased) Rich, and Herman (Susan) Hutton; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and lifelong friends Deborah Collins and Walter Shannon.

Services will take place Wednesday August 9, 2023 at the Shaw-Davis Short North Chapel, 34 West 2nd Avenue Columbus, Ohio 43201. Visitation from 6 -7 pm and the Funeral Service to follow from 7 – 8 pm. Elder Ed McKee to officiate. Private Burial at Dayton National Cemetery.
