Aleta (Pete) Hoover

February 15, 1930 — October 3, 2017

Aleta Jean “Pete” Hoover passed away October 3rd at the age of 87.  She was born February 15, 1930 in Columbus to Goldie (Stalnaker) and Joe Claude Burns who preceded her in death as did her brother Robert and her husband George Burton Hoover.

Pete graduated from North High School and worked as a key punch operator downtown before spending many years in the office of the American Rose Society.  She loved to cook and bake and was an avid reader.  She also loved to sew and continued to make clothes, quilts, banners for the church and do alterations up until the last year of her life.  Everyone says she was the best neighbor and friend ever and was active at church and in the community.  Even though she did not drive, she teamed up with others to deliver meals on wheels for over twenty years. She was a two times breast cancer survivor.

Aleta is survived by daughter Sandi Glauser (Catawba Island) and son Scot (Columbus ), grandchildren James (Put-in-Bay) and Kendra (Royal Oak), as well as, several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Noon at Karl Road Christian Church, 5400 Karl Rd. Columbus, Ohio with a lunch to follow.

In lieu of flowers, Pete has asked that memorial donations be made to Karl Road Christian Church or to the non-profit Hope Hollow which provides lodging, meals, transportation and emotional support…at no cost…to cancer patients and their families, who are in financial need, while coming to Columbus for cancer treatment.  Donations may be mailed to Hope Hollow, PO Box 141423, Columbus, Ohio 43214 or www.hopehollow.com/donate.
